HARTFORD, Ohio (August 28, 2010) – The last Friday Night Thunder at Sharon Speedway saw a number of close feature races, as the race to lead in points was hotly contested in number of divisions. Feature winners were Mark Marcucci in Mod Lites, Todd Walker in Sportsman, Craig Daniels in Micro Sprints, Bradley Blackshear in 2 bbl E-Mods, Robby Bartchy in Limited Sprints and Pete Blaczcak in Hobby Stocks.

Heading into the Mod Lite feature, Ken Meadows (Deerfield, Ohio) led the division in points by just five points. His 10T machine died in the heat race while he was leading. Dustin Salvino generously loaned Meadows his car for the feature, letting Meadows start in the back of the pack.

Rick Ament (Apollo, Pa.) was behind Meadows in points going into the feature, but started first in the feature.

Unfortunately, the feature wasn’t as kind to Meadows as Salvino was, as he got caught up in a first-lap incident and left the track with nine other cars that were involved in the caution.

Ament led all the way through lap 10 when caution was displayed. Mark Marcucci (West Middlesex, Pa.) took the lead on the restart, winning his second Mod Lite feature at Sharon Speedway this season.

Ament came across the line second, claiming the title of the 2010 Mod Lite Track Points Champion. Darin Gallagher finished third, followed by Matt Patterson and Jeremy Adamik.

Todd Walker (Lordstown, Ohio) started on the front row of the Sportsman feature and led the first four laps until fourth-place starter Allen Teeters (Warren, Ohio) took control on lap five and dominated the field. It was bad news for Teeters, though, when the white flag came out and he blew an engine. That gave Walker a chance to get the lead back, winning his first Sportsman feature at Sharon Speedway. Tiffany Williams (Hubbard, Ohio) recorded her best finish, coming across the line second, followed by Joe Grzelak, Matt Berger and Troll Sevacko.

One of the hotly-contested points races was the Micro Sprint division, with Craig Daniels (Cranesville, Pa.) leading in points by nine points over Ryan Fredericks (Hillsville, Pa.) , who didn’t finish the evening’s heat race. That opened Daniels’ points lead to 12 points.

Fredericks led the first six laps of the Micro Sprint feature, but his trouble continued from the heat race into the feature. Lap six saw a caution come out for Fredericks, as he blew an engine and died in turn three. On the ensuing restart, Daniels took the lead. He briefly lost the lead on a restart, but got a chance to take the lead back and win his second feature at Sharon Speedway and the Friday Night Thunder points series.
