Chris Carpenter Wins Feel The Heat 30 At I-77

I-77 Speedway after a three week layoff because of mother nature and MonsterTruxx, came back to life as 99 competitors brought their best to the greatest show on clay. The Mineral Wells Tire Center and Mikes Auto Body and Auto Express WRA Mini Wedges opened the show as Aiden Powell fought off 7 great competitors to take his first win of the season.

The Poor Boyz Motorsports Super Late Models Feel The Heat 30 was next as Ed Shuman set fast time. Heat races were won by Chris Carpenter, Tyler Evans and Pete Crum. In the 30 lap feature Chris Carpenter led wire to wire but was followed closely after a late race caution by Tyler Evans, Kyle Bond, Pete Crum, Zach Hill, Richie Edwards in the Jackie Boggs Tribute Car, Harold Redman Jr, Jeremy Blake, Eric Foster, Adam Tonkin, Mike McGinnis, Ed Shuman, Wayne Francis, Kenny Rucker, George Klintworth, Corey Galbreath, Buddy Brogan and Tyler Carpenter who did not start due to mechanical issues during qualifying.
The Mod Squad was up next as a full field of 18 got set to hit the track. Fast time was set by Kyle Bond. Heat races were won by Booger Garnes, Chad Roush and Coleman Evans. The UMP Modified feature was a closely competitive event as Booger Garnes held on for a .181 second cushion over Kyle Bond. They were closely followed by Chad Roush, Cruz Vandall, Coleman Evans, Zack “Cadillac” Newell, Jerrad Willis, Vince Conrad, Joey Harper, Zachary Deaton, Tommy McLain, Laif McKinney, Robert Huffman, Tracy Lucas, Mr Brown, Mitchell Berry, TJ Roush and Joe Hamon.
The Quality Brothers Construction Steel Blocks were up next as 28 of I-77 SPEEDWAY’S finest took to the clay. Fast time was set by Tyler Riggs. The heats were won by Tyler Riggs, Zach Milbee, Eric Monk in his Russ Nuckles throwback and Brandon Francis. The B-Main was won by Collin Holmes. The feature started with Zach Milbee taking advantage of early cautions to take the lead with Brandon Francis closely following. Milbee would give up the lead as they approached lapped traffic and Francis slipped underneath him to take the victory by .5 seconds. Zach Milbee settled in for second followed by Eric Monk, Randy “Squeak” Armes in a 604 crate, Josh Gibson, My Wild Irish Italian Billy Rose, Tyler Riggs, Joe Cloutier, Glynn Booth, R J Harper, Gary Wilcoxen, Arthur Jarrett, Collin Holmes, Kirk Breedlove, Chris Holley, Dustin Canfield, Kobe Gallion, Joseph Harper, Ronnie Souders, and Lee Cornell. Jason Canfield and Fred Perry did not transfer out of the B-Main. Rapid Ryan Keckley, Jacob Wiblin, Dustin Booth, A J Byrd, and Eric Baxter did not start.
19 competitors were next up for the Sonny’s Body and Paint Shop Sport Mods. Cruz Vandall dominated qualifying with fast time. Heat Winners were Cruz Vandall, Keith Bills and Brandon Davis. In the feature Cruz Vandall cruised to a 5 second victory over Jamie Adams followed by Keith Bills, Bryce Ryan, Nick Parsons, Tyler Harper, Nic Green, Ron Pickens, Will Brogan Jr, Scottie Linville, Keith Marlow, Brandon Davis, Roger Arix, Ryan Yates, Curt Reck, Curtis Griffin, and Alisha Hammond. Erik Pifer and Tyler Misner did not start.
Mikes Auto Body and Auto Express Street Stocks set the stage next as 10 competitors answered the call. Jonathan Whitt set fast time. Jonathan Whitt and John Powell Jr won the heats. If you left early you missed the best race of the night as John Powell Jr edged out Mike Martin in a photo finish at the line by .014 seconds. Finishing third on back was Rodney Cole, Jonathan Whitt, David King, Dawson Roton, Brad Roe and Preston Ferrebee. Kevin Woodall and Robert Pugh did not start.
