Ohio Valley Speedway Sets 64th Season Schedule

The Ohio Valley Management Group, promoters of the Ohio Valley Speedway are excited to announce a 22 event schedule for the 2022 season. The 64th season of short track racing excellence at the legendary Lubeck oval will kick off with the Season Preview/ Practice Day scheduled for Sunday, April 10th and the green flag dropping on the season the following Friday Night, April 15th.

Several new events will dot the 2022 schedule including the Friday, April 29th $5,000 to win Las Trancas Super Late Model ‘Topless 50’ as part of a doubleheader weekend. The best Super Late pilots in the region will converge in the Ohio Valley for a double ‘Topless’ weekend as the action kicks off at the Valley and finishes on Saturday, April 30th at Tyler County for the running of the 28th Annual ‘Topless 50’.


For the sprint car faithful, six times the wicked 410 machines will highlight the night. The first ever visit by the FAST on Dirt 410 Sprint Car Series paying $4,000 to win will take place on Friday Night, May 13th, as part of a double header sprint car weekend with the WVMS on Saturday. It will be a real ‘David vs. Goliath’ weekend as the regions best sprinters test the 3/8 mile Valley and the 5/8 mile Speedplant.


A huge slate of wide-open Sprint car action is slated as the stars of the OVSCA will make four visits including the April 22nd ‘Spring Sprintcar Spectacular’, May 27 ‘Vapors in the Valley’, the 2nd Annual Briscoe Run Land Surveying Pete Smith Memorial paying $4,000 to win on Aug. 12th and closing with the Finale at the Valley on Saturday, October 1st. Plus the Buckeye Outlaw Sprint Series (BOSS) Non Wing Sprints will return for the second year in a row on Friday, July 1st as part of a Mountain State invasion with the WVMS.


The first ever Ohio Valley Speedway OSTPA ‘Summer Shootout Truck and Tractor Pull’ presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts will take center stage on the front stretch at the Valley on Saturday Night, June 18th. Catch the OSTPA’s best Super Modified Four-Wheel Drive Trucks, Two Wheel Drive Trucks, Limited Pro Diesel Trucks and the Pro Stock Tractors in pulling action!


The ever-growing Steel Block Late Model Series will roll into town on three occasions including ‘Show Me the Money Night’ on May 6th, ‘Country Roads Classic’ weekend with Tyler County July 15-16, and finishing strong at the Finale at the Valley, October 1st.


Several iconic Ohio Valley Speedway mainstays will continue to delight fans including the 14th Annual Greg Schilling Memorial for the UMP Modifieds on June 24th, Toys for Tots ‘Christmas in July’ on the 22nd, and the revamped 4th Annual Keith Barker Memorial for Super Lates paying $5,000 to win along with a guaranteed starting spot in the 54th Annual Hillbilly 100.


Lots of new events and promotions will welcome race fans to the ‘Valley’ all season long including Nostalgia Night on May 20th, $5 ‘Jam the Stands’ Driver and Fan Appreciation Night, ‘Freedom Friday’ celebrating our Military on July 8th, Kids Night of Wheels on Aug. 5th, the Faster Pastor presented by Evans Construction on Aug. 19th and Bring a New Fan Night on Aug. 26th. With many of these family friendly events in mind, the staff and management of the Ohio Valley Speedway prides itself on giving back and creating partnerships with the local community and creating new race fans a top priority in 2022.


The always popular Finale at the Valley will close the racing season on Saturday, October 1st with the 2nd Annual Astorg Auto JeepFest bringing the curtain down the following Saturday, October 8th for all the Jeep enthusiasts.


Weekly racing at the Valley will feature the Las Trancas Super Late Models, Polymer Services of Ohio UMP Modifieds, Pike Street Lanes Sportmods, Bill’s Auto Salvage FWD SCDRA 4 Cylinders and Mike’s Auto Body WRA Mini Wedges. Gates will open at 4pm, Mini Wedges at 6pm, Drivers Meeting 6:30pm, Hotlap/Qualifying at 7pm.

Ohio Valley Speedway is a fast 3/8 mile dirt track located just south of Lubeck, WV on Rt. 68 south and Wadesville Road and races every Friday Night April thru August and a couple of Fall Specials in October. Opened in 1958, and known by most as the ‘Valley’, the Mountain State gem has played host to some of the biggest names in open wheel and short track racing history over the years and parlays its quintessential paperclip configuration into terrific racing action nightly. While ushering in a new decade of short track excellence, the ‘Valley’ still maintains an aura of yesteryear and charm that comes with six decades of motorsports history at one of West Virginia’s premier and stalwart short tracks.
