Knox Dale: The thrills of Thunder Mountain Speedway will soon come back to life as a group of friends came together to have a race honoring a great man. A certain family name has never been forgotten in our racing community as they all have been in the dirt racing scene for many years. This would be the Gaston family out of Rochester Mills. The Gaston name was known to be heard in victory lane as many race fans remember the blue 47 driven by Matt Gaston who dominated the dirt track scene for many years. Like any race team, it takes a strong crew to run a successful team. The backbone of the 47 crew was Vince Gaston, Matt’s dad. Vince’s racing career started in the early 1970’s where he got hooked on anything with four wheels and an engine. Vince was a supporter of local motorsports for many years where he’d help sponsor many local cars, lend a hand, donate tools, and even share a snack with you. Vince took pride in his work and had no problem lending help to drivers that were in need at all the tracks he went to. There is no one in the the local dirt racing scene that has helped so many like Vince Gaston did. Join us Friday, June 28th, 2024 as we celebrate Vince’s legacy and the impact he made on the racing community! Vince Gaston: Forever remembered, forever missed.
