Burdette & Carpenter Shine In Tyler County Speedway 50th Season Opener

Amidst a cool April Saturday evening, race fans flocked back to America’s Baddest Bullring for the long-awaited 50th Season Opener. Following several weeks of weather-related setbacks, over 160 racers converged on the Tyler County Speedway, igniting the start of the 2024 season with electrifying action. Picking up feature event wins on opening night were KC Burdette, Tyler Carpenter, Braeden Dillinger, TJ Arnold, Brian Probst, Jacob Hughes, Eli Smith, Coen Thomas, and Zach Travis.

A stacked field of 35 Jenkins Auto Parts UMP Modifieds would swell the Tyler County Speedway pit area with the regions best open wheel racers looking for the $2,500 top prize in the 13th Annual Let It Ride 35. The ultra-competitive field would be made up of past winners, track champions and rising up and comers. Picking up the win and adding his first ‘Let It Ride 35’ title to his robust trophy cabinet would be Parkersburg, WV’s KC Burdette. Following Burdette to the pay window was Tyler Carpenter in the Kryptonite Modified house car, the ‘Outlaw’ Jesse Wisecarver, Kyle Bond and Chad Smith. Burdette would set quick time, pick up the dash win while heat races went to Kyle Bond, Jesse Wisecarver, Chad Smith and Jason Brookover.

A great field of Stutler Motorsports Super Late Models that would see young Trey Watson set fast time on the evening with the Dash falling to Colten Burdette while heat race checkers went to young guns Brandon Weigle and Cole Perine. The 25 lap feature would see Parkersburg, WV’s Tyler Carpenter vault off his outside front row starting position to notch the feature win. Carpenter would hold off some mid-race pressure from Colten Burdette to pull away at the races conclusion and park his Kryptonite machine in the EQT Victory Lane. Following Carpenter across the stripe was Burdette, Weigle, Perine and Ryan Payne.

A big field of sixteen J&R Excavating RUSH Late Models would roll off with Dawson, Pennsylvania’s Braeden Dillinger scoring the opening night victory. The lightning quick Dillinger would park the Hodge Transmission, VP Fuels, Barry Wright Chassis #14 in the EQT Victory circle ahead of another keystone state racer in Ryan Frazee, Hayden Jacobs, Logan Reed and Kyle Thomas.

In the Middlebourne Galaxy Food Center Sportmod feature event, a stout field of 23 cars would take flagman Matt Amick’s green flag. Parking his #T7 in the EQT Victory Lane would be Marietta, Ohio’s TJ Arnold driving the Boley Enterprises, Matt’s Custom Auto, Heiss Hardwood Flooring Company Diamond race car. Following the impressive Arnold was a strong performance from Middlebourne’s Tyler Spencer, Wesley Reed, Brandon Francis and Sonny Leek would round out the top five.

An impressive field of 23 Sigler Fabrication Hotmods would take to the ‘Bullring’ on opening night. Defending track champion Brian Probst would pick right up where his 2023 season ended with a strong run out of the gate and notching his first win of the new campaign. Probst would hold off a hard charging Tyler Parrish to secure the win. Following the lead duo and rounding out the top five were Steve Magyar, Eddie Probst and Tom Sigler. Probst pilots the Jim and Christie Dudley owned Dudley Motorsports/ Choo Choo’s Restaurant, LetterRip Vinyl Graphics/ Hardrock Powder Coating/ Jenkins Auto Parts Lightning Chassis.

Marietta, Ohio’s Jacob Hughes aboard his sharp looking #5 Honda would garner the SCDRA 4 Cylinder main event ahead of Jacob McDaniel, the Father and Son team of Joey and Joe Price, and Brock Searls.

In the Pathway Real Estate Professional MWRA Mini Wedge racing it was Coen Thomas picking up the Junior Feature win ahead of Rowen Brightwell, and Grayson Smith. Eli Smith would notch season victory #1 in the Senior class ahead of brother Erickson Smith and Joey Miller.

The rescheduled ‘Joe Dirt 100’ Enduro race provided a thrilling conclusion to the 50th Season Opener, with West Union’s Zachary Travis emerging as the victor. Travis would lay claim to the title of ‘Joe Dirt’ aboard his USA-2 machine by besting Trenton McVey and Hunter Simers.

Join us next Saturday Night, April 27th as the Tyler County Speedway welcomes the Steel Block Late Model Series to town for the $2,025 to win 14th Annual Pat Herrick Memorial plus the Tri-State Street Stock Series Shootout #1 and Kids Rides in Race Cars at intermission.
