The Walls Close In – A Surprising Last Lap Finish

Following some last lap excitement, Gunnar Walls took the checkered flag on Friday at Bedford during the 20-lap Limited Late Model Feature. In other action, Kyle Deneen won the Semi Late feature and Matthew Duvall took home the SCDRA Northeast victory.
It took almost the entire distance and some last lap drama, but Gunnar Walls hung on and emerged victorious in the Limited Late Model event. Devin Weyandt started on the pole and led the early laps opening an early gap over the field. As the laps wound down, the groove Weyandt had discovered began to change, allowing Gunnar Walls and TJ DeHaven to seize an advantage and gain some distance. With the finish line in sight, Weyandt brushed the wall and slowed, and Walls passed for a dramatic win. Walls was followed by Devin Weyandt, TJ DeHaven, Kyle Lear and Brad Benton.
Kyle Deneen rallied for the Semi Late win holding off race long challenges from Chubby Childers. Childers remained close but was ultimately denied at the finish and walked away with second place. Deneen and Childers were followed by Bob Jay, Dave Brown, and Cody Jarvie.
Semi Lates Heat Race Winners: Brian Weyandt and Dave Brown
Bedford hosted the SCDRA Northeast racing club for the first time on Friday night. Matthew Duvall was the feature winner of the 20-lap event. Duvall was followed by Zach Lennox, James Fairall, Justin Williamson and Wayne Brenize.
