MEGA Modified Weekend Ahead In The Mountain State

(Middlebourne, WV) As the summer months begin to heat up so does the racing action in ‘Almost Heaven’ West Virginia as the beautiful Mountain State prepares to welcome the best UMP Open Wheel Modifieds to the Ohio Valley region June 18-19 for two nights of big events and big money.
The Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour will roll into Ohio Valley Speedway on Friday Night, June 18th for the ‘Front Row Challenge’. The 3/8 mile paperclip known as the ‘Valley’ will kick off the huge weekend with a $2,000 first prize and $200 to start on the line along with the top 2 feature finishers also earning the coveted front row in Saturday Night’s $10,000 to win MEGA event at Tyler County Speedway. The ‘Valley’ regularly host some of the best UMP Modified racers on Friday Night with Mineral Wells, WV’s Coleman Evans currently locking down the point lead and will be looking to defend the home-turf against the invaders. Evans has a pair of wins on the season along with Cruz Vandall and New Yorker Rich Michael fresh off his win in the Greg Schilling Memorial each have a trip to Victory Lane in 2021.
On Saturday Night, June 19th Tyler County Speedway will play host to Night #2 of the weekend as the Renegade Tour will roll up Rt. 2 just an hour away to the Valley’s sister track known affectionately as the ‘Bullring’. The high bank Middlebourne, WV speedway will play host to the 7th edition of the Modifed MEGA event with this years version hoisting a hefty $10,000 payday in front of the regions best open wheel racers. Past winners of the prestigious MEGA event include 2015 Jacob Hawkins, 2016 Jacob Hawkins, 2017 Taylor Cook, 2018 Jeff Matthews, 2019 Eddie Carrier Jr., and in 2020 Daniel Hill of Morgantown would best 50 entrants to claim his first MEGA. Current point leader and former AMRA National Champion Kenny Johnson sits atop the point standings and along with a bevy of equally talented regular wheelmen will be on hand to battle the travelers. Mark Dickson, Coleman Evans, Kyle Thomas, defending track champion Cody Brightwell and most recently Eddie Carrier each have visited the West Virginia University of Parkersburg Victory Lane a single time while Rich Michael currently leads in wins as the driver of the 17 machine is 3 for 3 on the season.
