With most other tracks in the area cancelling because of rain, Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex had a stellar field of cars on Saturday night, which was the first night of a Double Header weekend of racing. Pulling into victory lane were Cody Hardesty (Napa Auto Super Late Models), Rick Singleton (High Gear Speed Shop RUSH Late Models), Joe Kelley (Hoosier Tire Street Stocks), C J Nicola (Fort Necessity Garage Chargers), Joel Watson (Krause Electric Emods), and David Friend (Newt’s York Bar 4 Cyl. Roadrunners). Friend was the only repeat winner as all of the other drivers won for the first time this year.

Ron Delano jumped out to lead the super late model feature and it appeared he would get his first win of the season. An intense battle raged between Delano, Cody Hardesty, and Tim Senic. A late caution bunched the field and gave Hardesty the chance to make one more charge to the lead, which he did at just the right time, to lead the last lap. Delano had to settle for second followed by Tim Senic, Quintin Wyandt, and Justin Kann on his first visit to the track. Heat wins went to Hardesty, Senic and Delano.

After a move to Front Royal, VA over the winter, Rick Singleton returned for the first time this year and won the RUSH late model feature event. The diverse field of 23 cars was filled with former winners and several newcomers to Roaring Knob. Singleton had to hold off charges from John Over and Jared Hawkins who battled lap after lap for the second spot. George Kowatic and Dennis Lunger rounded out the top five. Heat winners were Singleton, Russell Baird and Hawkins.

In Street Stock action for the last three weeks, Scott Bittinger has been dominating. However, on Saturday night it was a fierce battle between Scott Spade (who led the first half of the race) and Joe Kelley who led the last half and went to victory lane. Spade came home second followed by Michael Duritsky, Marty Spade, and Greg Hauger. Kelley and Spade picked up the heat wins also.

Joel Watson made the long haul from Conneaut, OH, for the first time ever. He arrived at the track late and had to tag the tail of the heat race. He finished second in his heat and the invert 4 start gave him the pole starting spot in the Emod feature. He took advantage of the entire situation and led all 15 laps. Jared Hawkins chased Watson but to no avail and ended up second followed by Nick Cramer, Vic Vandergrift, and Ronnie Howard. Heats went to Hawkins and Brent Trimble.

The Charger division found its fifth different winner in five weeks this year at the Knob. C J Nicola started pole position and led the entire race ahead of J T Baird, Kyle Burkholder, Cody Colflesh, and E J Rozak who also won the lone heat.

Newt’s York Bar 4 Cylinder Roadrunners are down on numbers this season. With only four cars, (two sets of team cars) it was a battle of teams in the race. Feature and heat winner, David Friend picked up his second win of the year over Todd Detrick, Dustin Nutter and Dustin Detrick.

Regular Saturday Night Racing at Roaring Knob takes the Memorial Day Holiday weekend off while the Full Pull Productions East Coast Truck and Tractor Pulling return this year to the track on Saturday night, May 24.

Then a big TRIPLE Bonus weekend at Roaring Knob on May 30 – 31 – June 1. On Friday night, the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek drivers hit the track for a $5000 to win feature event. RUSH late models and Street Stocks will join them on May 30. Then on Saturday, May 31, Regular Saturday Night Racing returns with the exception of Super Late Models who will be completing the Appalachian Mountain Speedweek races. The little MINI WEDGES will make their first appearance at the Knob that night. On Sunday, June 1, the 410 Sprints return for the The Dirt Classic Presented by Kasey Kahne QUALIFIER RACE at Roaring Knob. This race will pay $5,000-to-win and feature members of the PA Posse and Western Pennsylvania stars. The winner will be guaranteed a starting spot in the $20,000-to-win Dirt Classic to be held at Lincoln Speedway on Sept 27.
