Tyler County Speedway Season Opener Set To Go

(Middlebourne, WV)  After a long winter and unseasonably cool spring, the Tyler County Speedway is about to come to life once again as the 39th Season Opener will take the green this Saturday Night, April 20th.   The chase for the 2013 track championship will get underway for many this Saturday. Year after year the tough Tyler County track regulars, some of the toughest in the nation battle weekly at the regions most competitive speedway for a chance to be heralded as a Tyler County Speedway track champion. Looking to defend their 2012 track championships in there respective divisions include Butch McGill, Danny Thomas, Mark Dickson, Brandon Fluharty and Travis Thomas.

Hometown Racing Association’s, John Watson will welcome eager racers and fans for their first taste of competition on the freshly groomed racing surface which has garnered rave reviews after two open daytime test n’ tune sessions. Two hundred forty three loads of fresh clay was applied to the nations raciest venue this spring courtesy of J&R Excavating.  Over 50 cars participated in each of the two practice sessions with drivers in all classes quickly adapting to the new surface and after having several late models near track record times in the daytime conditions leaving many to wonder if the track record will fall early in the 2013 season. Several super late models have looked extremely fast so far including Steve Weigle, Butch McGill, Paul Wilmoth, Sonny Conley, Jared Hawkins, Daniel Hill, Derek Doll, Shawn Jett, Billy Brown and Donnie Dotson among others.

“The track has held up unbelievably well”, stated new promoter John Watson. “We are super excited to see what it does at night under the lights, after two practice days it has been incredibly smooth with lots of bite and if the buzz from the drivers is any indication the Season Opener should be a dandy”, summed up Watson.

With typical early season cool temps still lingering a fan friendly gesture of starting an hour earlier to get fans back home at a reasonable time is being implemented by track management. Gates will open at 3, with hotlaps and qualifying starting at 6 and racing getting underway at 7. Back to the ‘bullring’ by popular demand is the Late Model feature guaranteed to hit the track by 9:30 each and every week this season.

Located in the scenic WV hills, the Tyler County Speedway is located just 4 miles south of Middlebourne on State Route 18 at the fairgrounds and featuring the FANtastic 5 weekly program that consist of the J & R Excavating Super Late Models, Peoples Bank FASTRAK Late Models, Two Brothers Motorsports EDGE Modifieds, joined by the EDGE HotMods, ModLites, and as always the MWRA Mini-wedges will open the show at the Bullring. As the best weekly card in the Ohio Valley region provides more bang for the race fans hard earned buck and the Hometown Racing Association will look to offer family oriented programs at fan friendly prices. General admission is priced at $12, children 10 and under free while entry into the pits is $26. Be sure to come early and enjoy the new ‘Bullring Bistro’ concession stand featuring Tyler County Speedway favorites like the Coleman’s Fish Sandwich and Hillbilly Hot Dog featuring Wanda’s Hotdog Sauce plus some new items including corndogs and chicken tenders.
