Jeremy Double collects extra Econo-mod pay at Raceway 7!

Conneaut, OH, June 28, 2013: Autograph night, always a fan-favorite, was held with all cars in the pit coming to the front straight during intermission so fans could get up close to their favorites. Candy, photos, and other souvenirs awaited the fans with nearly all in the stands heading to the track. The $500 for the special for the Economods went to Jeremy Double after a crash-filled twenty laps. Max Blair returned to Victory Lane in the FASTRAL Late Models in only his second visit of the season. Rich Michael made the long tow from Ishua, NY pay off with a win in the E-Mod finale while former champions Chris Withers and Bud Sergeff prevailed in their features.

The McDonald Meats Economods raced for $500 to win with Steve Burns and Russ Kapalin on the front row. The race was a rough event with many cautions. Steve Burns, the pole sitter, led from the start with third-starting Jeremy Double right behind. Burns managed to keep the lead through the numerous caution periods until lap seventeen when he slid wide in turn two, allowing Double to get by and drive on to his first Raceway 7 win of 2013. Burns wound up second with Kyle Fellows turning in a good run for third., Josh Ferry and Lee Patrick rounded out the top five.

Dave Airgood and Kyle Zimmerman started the Evergreen Lake Park Campground FASTRAK feature on the front row with Zimmerman leading lap one. Third-starting Max Blair came to second with four laps compete. With six laps compete Bobby Rohrer spun in turn one, collecting Breyton Santee. At the same time, in turn two, Dennis Lunger, the opening night winner and 2009 champion, spun in turn two. For the restart Blair and Airgood were right behind Zimmerman with Blair getting by for the lead at the end of the back straight.  By halfway Balir had a half straight lead over Zimmerman with last starting Chad Wright up to third. The race was slowed with eleven laps complete for a large piece of debris in turn one. At the restart Wright came to second. Several more caution periods slowed the event, mostly for incidents in turn two. At the checkers it was Blair, the defending champion, for his first Raceway 7 win of the season, then points leader Wright, from the back twice, Airgood, Jamie Brown, and Breyton Santee.

The Bonnell Collision Center E-Mods were the first feature on the track with points leader Mike Potosky and Dan McDonald bringing the field to the green. Potosky led the pack to turn one but slid high, handing the lead to Rich Michael, who got by McDonald at the drop of the green. At lap seven defending champion Joel Watson moved by McDonald for second. With five laps left Michael was still the leader with Watson seemingly unable to close the gap. McDonald was still third with Greg Johnson fourth and Chuck Steinle Jr fifth. The race ran green to checkers with no cautions. It was Michael’s first visit of the year. He hails from Ishua, NY and tows 2 3/4 hours to race at Raceway 7.

Jonny Boyd and David Snyder led the Western Reserve Animal Clinic Street Stocks to Roger Osburn’s green flag. Points leader Ed Bolyard pulled to the infield before the event got the green with mechanical troubles.  At the start Chris Withers came from row two to the lead by the back straight of lap one with Snyder second and Boyd third. By three laps in last week’s winner Eric Reinwald was third with Darrin Hyde coming to fourth at lap five as Boyd spun to the infield but kept going. The top five at the finish were Withers, Snyder, Darrin Hyde, Eric Reinwald, and Ryan Reinwald.

Dale Fraschetti, fresh off his first heat win of the season led the Specialty Products Mini Stocks for the first two laps before 2012 champion Bud Sergeff took over at the front. Week two winner Jason Easler ran third at the halfway point with points leader Brad Cole fourth and Hoyt Mihalak fifth. With three laps remaining Fraschetti, Easler, and Cole were nose to tail but no changes happened over the final laps among the top four. Mitch Stokes got by Mihalak for fifth. This was the second feature of the evening run without a caution period.
