After setting dormant over a number of seasons, the exciting sights and sounds of dirt track racing are set to return to the town of Hanover West Virginia, as the Lizard Creek Speedway (formally known as the Thunder Mountain Speedway) is set to bring back the excitement of dirt track racing to the area! Work has been going on both on and off the track this spring at the Hanover West Virginia track, as the staff is working to bring racing back to the storied track in a big way for the 2015 season. The staff at the track is currently working to prepare the facility for an opening date to be determined in May. The racing season at Lizard Creek will continue throughout the summer, until late August, however the staff has yet to release a completed racing schedule.

Partnering with the American Motor Racing Association (AMRA), the Lizard Creek Speedway will run the popular AMRA Modifieds, along with the new and quickly growing AMRA Sport Mods. These two classes are sure to deliver exciting racing action to the track while drawing some of the region’s best racing teams throughout the summer as Lizard Creek will now be a track included as a factor in determining the AMRA National Point’s championships in both of these classes. Along with the AMRA classes, the track will also be running the Fastrak Crate Late Models, along with a 4 cylinder, street stock and mod stock/outlaw modified classes respectively.

Final preparations and improvements are being made to the facility as the race season quickly approaches. The track staff is making strides to return the competitive racing at 4/10 mile track that fans have been missing, while working to continue and build upon West Virginia’s long history of dirt track racing. The folks at the Lizard Creek Speedway intend to be a great source of family friendly entertainment for both fans and teams as they want to race with a family atmosphere, while the staff promises to do their best to ensure racing concludes by midnight. The AMRA wishes the best of luck to the track staff and competitors of Lizard Creek, as we are excited to partner together to bring actioned packed racing back to Lizard Creek Speedway and continue to build the sport of dirt track racing that we all enjoy!
