Evans, Smalley, McGlone, Tolle & Stout Share Brushcreek Glory On Opening Night
3 min read(Peebles, OH) With weather straight out of the movies, Brushcreek Motorsports Complex set sail last Saturday night to kick off their 15th season of racing. Fans that were in attendance witnessed high octane racing and a mind blowing fireworks show! The drivers were ready to get the season kicked off as was everyone else at the track.
The Crazy Compacts hit the speedway first. 11 drivers lined up to run their first feature event of the year. Earlier, however, Keith Anderson and Stacy Evans shared heat race wins. They would line up side by side on the front row for the 10 Lap Feature. It was no easy battle but in the end Stacy Evans started off 2015 in Victory Lane. Evans was followed under the checkered flag by Keith Anderson, Christopher Shelton, Randy Johnson and Clyde Saunders who rounded out the top 5.
After Chris Smalley picked up the win in his Mini-Sprint, the Hidden Gem Web Designs Sport Mods hit the track. With an official car count of 10, the Sport Mod regulars were ready to attack the track. Derek Spencer and Jimmy Spillman both won their heat races before being inverted to start the feature. When all was said and done, Brad McGlone picked up another Sport Mod win at BMC and the first of the year. Jimmy Spillman, Billy Lanthorn, Michael Newton and Derek Spencer rounded out the top 5.
Modifieds rolled out next onto the dirt. Rusty Hawes was the driver who set quick time in qualifying and Travis Fleshman won the heat race, however mechanical woes would strike both drivers before the night was over. When it came down to the checkered flag, Chris Tolle emerged victorious. Following Tolle was the duo of Glenn East and Travis Fleshman.
The only class that did not kick off their season on May 2nd was the Ohio Valley Roofers Legend Car Series which has already ran two races before Saturday. The Legend Car division always proves to be exciting to watch and May 2nd was no exception. Cole DeMint and Tommy Stout Sr. split heat race wins. 11 Drivers took to the track for an exciting 15 lap feature. In the end it came down three drivers, the Pole Sitter, John Gutman and two drivers that ended up having to come from behind, Tommy Stout Sr and Steven Partin. Stout picked up his second win in a row on the tour this season. Steven Partin, John Gutman, Josh Francis and Derek Minshew rounded out the top 5.
