7th Annual Greg Schilling Memorial at Legendary Hilltop, August 7th

The highly anticipated 7th Annual Greg Schilling Memorial paying $2,099 to win for AMRA Modifieds, will be held at the Legendary Hilltop Speedway for the first time in the races history, on August 7thth 2015 at the ¼ mile track just outside of Marietta Ohio. The track which opened in the mid 1960’s and has most recently been in operation since 2012, has quickly become a hot spot for competitive racing, large crowds and special events. On August 7th, the staff at Legendary Hilltop and the Schilling family and friends hope to the take the always special Greg Schilling Memorial to even greater levels of excitement for both fans and teams. In a night that is sure to feature great racing along with special activities and tributes to Greg Schilling, the event will be more than just a race, but rather a night of celebrating, remembering and honoring one of the area’s most respected and admired racers, Greg Schilling.

Since its inception, the Greg Schilling Memorial has been held as one of the most highly regarded events in the Ohio valley racing season. The race that features strong car counts, great racing action and excellent payouts, has helped pave the way for the event to become a “can’t miss” event for race fans and race teams from across the region. As the Greg Schilling Memorial race moves from Skyline Speedway to the Legendary Hilltop Speedway for the 2015 season, fans and teams can expect many great traditions to continue, along with a new level of excitement and a renewed sense of competition with the ¼ mile action track, playing host to this star studded event. With past winners of the memorial race including names such as Aukland, Berwanger and Conley, modified drivers from across the region hope to add their name to this coveted list of winners and forever establish themselves as an integral part of carrying on a great racing legacy.

The memorial race features an exciting format of heat races, last chance consolation races and even an auction for a final starting position in which the proceeds will benefit the Greg Schilling Memorial Fund. The Greg Schilling Memorial evening will feature great racing in the AMRA Modifieds, as well as the AMRA Late Models and Sport Mods plus racing in the Mini Wedge class. In addition to exciting racing, fans will be treated to various surprises and additions to the evening’s festivities such as a special chance for fans to ride in a ‘2 seater” modified, courtesy of Junior Nolan and 2Brothers Motorsports. Legendary Hilltop and various parties are also working to add numerous additions to the event for 2015 with both fans and teams in mind, including giveaways and numerous additional monetary rewards going to modified drivers throughout the evening.

Fans and teams who attend this event, are not just supporting a race, but rather supporting Greg Schilling’s legacy by supporting the Greg Schilling Memorial Fund. The memorial fund was established in memory of Greg by his family. As this fund grows the money will be put back into the community in the form of scholarships for a Fort Frye and Waterford High School senior graduate in honor of Greg. To date, $12,000 has been donated in Scholarships to graduating seniors. In addition to the scholarships, the fund also assists individuals or families that have an illness or a life altering event that requires financial assistance. To date, $26,750 has been handed out to individuals or families in need.

Legendary Hilltop Speedway and the Schilling family encourage you to come out and support a special night of racing in honor of a special racer who touched the hearts of many with his great spirit, great courage and great legacy that helped make our world a better place both on and off the track.

The Greg Schilling Memorial will be held on Friday August 7th, with a rain date scheduled for Sunday August 9th.
Big Events Planned for 7th Annual Greg Schilling Memorial

Fans and drivers are gearing up for one of the biggest events in the area, the 7th Annual Greg Schilling Memorial. Everyone is hoping to see this year’s event be the biggest and best yet!

Jr. Nolan, sponsor of the Lucky 13 Award in the AMRA Octane Modifieds, has once again stepped up his support of the American Motor Racing Association and the goodwill of the 7th Annual Greg Schilling Memorial in 2015. Nolan’s Two Brothers Motorsports is bringing the 2 seater modified down to Legendary Hilltop Speedway to help promote the Greg Schilling Memorial Fund. All the money raised will go to the Schilling Memorial Fund!

Fans can purchase tickets for a chance to win a ride on June 26th. Organizers will raffle off 3 rides of 5 laps each, then the 4th ride will be sold at a silent auction; so fans and supporters of the Greg Schilling Memorial, please bring cash!!! The auctioned ride will be 10 laps. Drivers will be Kenny Johnson and Mike McPherson, and the drivers will be randomly selected for raffled rides. The silent auction winner gets to pick their driver!!!
Also attending the Schilling for the first time will be McDonald’s of the Tri-State. The team from our local McDonald’s will be on hand with awesome giveaways for fans and drivers. McDonald’s has been an amazing support for AMRA, our tracks, and our drivers since coming on board as the Official Title Sponsor of the AMRA Late Models. The 7th Annual Greg Schilling Memorial race, again racing under the banner of the American Motor Racing Association, will be held Friday, June 26th at Legendary Hilltop Speedway in Marietta, Ohio. Race organizers are looking forward to this historic $17,000 purse for the Octane AMRA Modifieds.
