Legendary Hilltop Ready For Busy 2016

The Legendary Hilltop Speedway located in Marietta Ohio is currently gearing up for a very ambitious and busy season of racing at the ¼ mile track in 2016. In what will mark the 5th season in operation under the leadership of promoter Lhan Weppler and staff, the formerly forgotten track looks to continue its efforts to restore racing excitement to the Marietta area on Friday nights, by hosting a diverse schedule of exciting races paired with numerous special fan friendly events over the course of the season. To prepare for the busy season of racing, the track staff has worked over the winter months continuing to make facility upgrades including an increase of over 200 seats, improved guardrail for added safety and more accommodating pit amenities to ensure for an improved racing experience for all in attendance.

Following a very successful 2015 season, Legendary Hilltop will once again partner with the American Motor Racing Association (AMRA) to host racing in the AMRA Late Model, AMRA Modified and AMRA Sport Mod divisions throughout the season. Over the past number of seasons, Legendary Hilltop has proven to be one of the strongest proving grounds weekly among AMRA tracks, as a Legendary Hilltop track champion has also claimed an AMRA National Championship in the same season (Tyler Carpenter, Kenny Johnson, Roy Roush). Along with the AMRA divisions, Legendary Hilltop will also host racing in the Street Stock, 4 Cylinder and WRA Mini Wedge divisions as a part of the track’s regular racing programs. It is important to note that the track will also feature appearances by OSCS 410 Winged Sprints as well as Mod Lites on a special event basis in 2016.

The 2016 season opener is currently slated for March 19th with the third annual running of the Frostbuster Special ($2,000 Late Models, $1,000 Modifieds). The tracks season schedule includes many special events including the AMRA/STARS Legends 30, Inaugural Gene Johnson Memorial, $10,000 to win “River City Showdown”, Schilling Memorial, OGVC Freedom 30 and the opening portion of the AMRA Championship weekend in late September, among many other notable events.
