Charlie Floyd Memorial Benefit Race This Friday At Southern Ohio

13051660_10206236580898221_2541395590038157656_nWHEELERSBURG, OH-As everyone at the speedway and in the racing community begins the healing process from the loss of Charlie Floyd, we move forward with having a benefit race for Charlie’s family in Charlie’s memory this Friday, April 29th.

There will be several fundraising events on Friday to raise money for Charlie’s family. The Porter Township Fire Department, the fire department that Charlie served on, will be at the track on Friday doing several different fundraising activities. Details on the exact activities will be released within the next few days. The Minford Volunteer Fire Department will also be having a pass the boot through the grandstands.

The track will be selling sponsorships for the race. Sponsorships are being sold for $99 (those that want to donate more can give more). Sponsorships can be purchased by businesses, individuals, race teams, etc. The sponsorship will include their name, website link, and phone number posted on the event page on our website and an individual post on our Facebook page along with multiple announcements over the PA on Friday night. 100% of proceeds from the sponsorships will go to Charlie’s family.

To purchase a sponsorship, simply send a Facebook private message to the Southern Ohio Speedway page, email southernohiospeedway@gmail.com, or contact track promoters Don Harmon and Robbie Harmon or contact track PR director T. J. Layne and let us know you want to do a sponsorship. Sponsorships can be paid for at each ticket gate on raceday or can be mailed to H&L Motorsports, LLC, 311 Township Road 102, Ironton, OH 45638. Make checks payable to H&L Motorsports, LLC and put on the memo Charlie Floyd Benefit Sponsorship. 100% of the sponsorship money will go to Charlie’s family.

The track will also be selling raffle tickets for two 5 year season pit passes to the track. The total value of this prize is $3,500. 100% of the proceeds from the raffle tickets will go to Charlie’s family. Tony and Anessa Sparling will also have their smoker at the track selling some awesome food items. 100% of the proceeds from the food they sell will go to Charlie’s family. Jimmy and Mary Fritz will have their Sprint Car simulators at the track with 100% of the proceeds going to Charlie’s family.

We will also have ceremonies to honor Charlie. A Charlie Floyd flag has been purchased and will be raised at half staff prior to the start of hot laps. We will also do the missing man formation before the start of the nights AMRA STARS Late Model feature.

The racing card on Friday will be highlighted by the first appearance of the AMRA STARS Late Model Series that will battle for a $2,000 to win top prize. It will be the second race of the season for the new version of the STARS Late Models. West Virginia driver Robbie Scott won the inaugural race on April 15th at the Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, West Virginia. Robbie Scott, Freddie Carpenter, Kyle Thomas, Zack Dohm, and Corey Conley are the current top five in series points. The always exciting AMRA Modifieds, Fastrak Crate Late Models, Sport Mods, and Enduros will also be on the racing card.

Gates will open at 4:00 pm Friday with hot laps at 7:15 pm. General admission is $15 (ages 17 and up), $5 (ages 13-16), $2 (ages 7-12), and FREE (ages 6 and under).
