(Imperial, PA) – Michael Norris of Sarver, PA collected his first-ever UFo Championship victory by winning the Diehl Automotive “Red Miley Rumble” at Pittsburgh’s Pennsylvania Motor Speedway in convincing style. Norris collected $3,053 for the win in the 35 lap championship event.

Three heat races ran for 30 laps with only one caution flag for debris. The heat race wins went to Devin Moran in his first-ever UFo start, 2008-2009 UFo Champion Alex Ferree and 2012 UFo Champion Keith Barbara. A redraw of the top 12 saw Dan Angelicchio and Scott Gun sitting on the front row.

Angelicchio jumped out to the lead at the drop of the green flag. Norris vaulted from his eighth place starting position into second place on the first lap. Norris tracked down Angelicchio and took control of the race on lap eight.

With Norris building up his lead, a fantastic four-car battle took place for the second position as Moran, Ferree and Yoder exchanged positions multiple times as they all took turns trying to swipe the position from Angelicchio. The only caution of the race appeared on lap 20 for a single-car spin. At the caution. Norris lead Angelicchio, Moran, Yoder and Ferree.

A thrilling total double file restart saw Norris resume the lead with Yoder being shuffled back with John Flinner taking fifth and Keith Barbara powering from ninth to sixth. Moran and Angelicchio raced for second with Moran assuming the postion on lap 21. Ferree set his sights on Angelicchio next, taking third on lap 30. Barbara moved past Flinner for fifth as Yoder regained his speed to move into sixth. Both Barbara and Yoder overtook Angelicchio in the final laps to move into fourth and fifth.

At the finish, Norris was followed by Moran, Ferree, Barbara and Yoder. Angelicchio, Russ King, Flinner, Michael Davis and Tom Schirnhofer rounded out the top ten of the 23 car field. After missing the heat races due to wedding attendance, track champion Brandon Burgoon earned the bonus points for advancing the most positions after advancing 10 positions.

The next UFo Championship Challenge events are this coming weekend. Port Royal will present the annual “Butch Renninger 33” paying at least $3,300 to win on Saturday, September 3.
