PRINCETON, WV – Henry Hornsby III of Beckley, WV made some bold moves at a track he regularly competes at to win the $2,500 top prize in the 40-lap Little General Stores UBB Qualifier Race for the FASTRAK Pro Late Model Series on Saturday night driving the Henry’s Radiator Longhorn.

It was also the third Jewel of the 12th Annual FASTRAK Triple Crown, and Tyler Bare of Rockridge Baths, VA is the 2017 Champion who wore the Crown, the Robe, and carried the Scepter with a fourth-place finish in the Loco Motives Rocket.

A lap 14 restart found the young driver known as H3 in the fourth spot behind FASTRAK point leader Benji Hicks of Mt. Airy, NC, Walker Arthur of Forest, VA, and Bare. The lead quartet of drivers went into the first turn on the restart four-wide.

When dust settled and the elbows quit flyin’, Arthur came out the leader, and Hornsby made a bold move to come out of turn two in the second spot. On the next restart, Hornsby was able to get the hole shot on Arthur in the FASTRAK double-file restart, and take the lead on lap 15.

Hornsby never looked back and the 2016 Futures Cup South East Region Champion picked up his second career FASTRAK Touring win taking a 2.458 second margin of victory under the checkered flag.

“When we into turn one on that lap 14 restart, Arthur pushed up on Hicks, and I wasn’t sure what to do, so I just mashed the gas,” Hornsby said in Victory Lane. “To win one of these races is just incredible. There is so much tough competition in FASTRAK, I’m just proud to get to race with these guys.”

Bare is a third generation driver, who is keeping the family racing legacy alive and well, as not only has he captured the Triple Crown title, he also leads the FASTRAK Mid-Ohio Valley Region point standings, and he is also a top competitor in Division 3 of the FASTRAK Weekly Racing Race Series.

“We gave up running a Division 3 race to come here tonight, so we have decided to give up on the weekly stuff and we’re going to tour with FASTRAK for the rest of the year,” Bare said after donning the spoils of victory. “We will have to do a more traveling than we’re used to, but we have had so much fun racing with the FASTRAK Touring guys, and being able to compete with them, this is where I need to be.”

Hicks followed up his third win of the season on Friday night at 311 Motor Speedway in Pine Hall, NC with a second-place effort on Saturday night at Princeton Speedway driving the T&K Enterprises Longhorn. Arthur came home with a third-place showing in the Cecil B. Arthur Beef Farms Longhorn.

Hornsby, Hicks, and Arthur are also Guaranteed Starters in next Saturday night’s 40-lap $3,000-to-win, $229-to-start 7th Annual Lewis Automotive Group/Little General Stores UBB 29 Miners Memorial Race at Princeton Speedway for the FASTRAK Pro Late Model South East Region and Mid-Ohio Valley Region.

Bare finished fourth with fifth-place going to T.J. Salango of Beckley, WV in the Rightway Auto Rocket. David Watts of Buchanan, VA took the sixth spot in the Watts Racing Barry Wright, and seventh was Michael Bland of Pineville, WV in the Bland Racing Special.

The defending FASTRAK SE and MOV Champion Cla Knight of North Augusta, GA drove the Augusta Aquatics Longhorn to an eighth-place finish, and ninth went to Matthew Nance of Ronda, NC in the Diversified Finishers Longhorn. Matt Long of Charlotte, NC rounded out the top ten in the Mello Yellow Rocket.

Jensen Ford of Piney Flats, TN started 21st and finished 11th in the Tim Byrd Motorsports TNT and was the Hard Charger of the Race. Teddy Tate of Rural Retreat, VA finished 17th and was the Rookie of the Race driving the R&C Towing CVR.

In preliminary action, Hicks was the Fast Qualifier among the 27 entrants with a lap around Princeton Speedway in 16.928 seconds. The three ten-lap Heat Races were won by Ricky Williams of Beckley, WV in the Lewis Automotive Group Longhorn, Arthur and Hicks. The eight-lap B-Main Race was won by Brandon Riffe of Lerona, WV in the Riffe Racing Special.

Hicks has now pulled out to a 13-point lead over Nance in the FASTRAK SE Region point standings 300 to 287. Ford and Knight are tied for the third spot, 18 points behind Hicks with 282 points, and Ron Parker of Belwood, NC is fifth with 281 points, 19 points behind Hicks. Parker had a mechanical issue with his Schaeffer Oil Rocket and finished 19th.

Bare topped the 2017 Triple Crown standings with 99 points, and that’s an average finish in the three of third. Bare won the second Jewel of the 2017 Triple Crown on July 29 at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA and had another fourth-place finish on May 26 at 311 Motor Speedway in the first Jewel.

Hicks finished second in the 2017 FASTRAK Triple Crown standings with 94 points, and Nance was third with 83 points. Parker and Knight tied for the fourth spot with 81 points apiece and Ford was sixth with 76 points. Tate was seventh with 66 points and Brandon Umberger of Rural Retreat, VA was eighth with 61 points in the BCU LLC Barry Wright. Brent Hilton of Rural Retreat, VA was ninth with 60 points, and Corey Almond rounded out the top ten with 47 points.
