ARCA/CRA Super Series Back In Action At Kil-Kare Raceway Saturday

Salem, IN (May 30, 2018) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will return to action Saturday in the Gem City 125 at Kil-Kare Raceway in Xenia, Ohio, just outside of Dayton. The tricky oval track at Kil-Kare Raceway was reopened last season by Gem City Auto Racing after being closed for the 2015 and 2016 seasons and has been racing special events since last season.

The series has had three events at Kil-Kare Raceway prior to this season. Two-time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Travis Braden has two victories in the three series events held at Kil-Kare. Braden won the series first ever event held at Kil-Kare in 2013 and was victorious in last season’s return to Kil-Kare after a tough mid race battle with 2014 series Kil-Kare winner Brandon Oakley.

Josh Brock comes into Saturday’s event as the series points leader after getting his first ever series victory at Anderson Speedway on May 5th. Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year point leader Austin Kunert is second in season points, he is 23 points behind Brock, he got a series best finish of second at Anderson. Fellow rookie Jon Beach is in third place, he is 23 points behind Kunert. 2017 series Champion and Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year Logan Runyon is fourth in series points, he is two points behind Beach. Runyon got a series best third place finish in last year’s Kil-Kare event. Hunter Jack is in fifth place in series points, he is six points behind Runyon. All the top five are entered for Saturday’s event.

Other CRA competitor’s entered include Greg Van Alst, Michael Simko, three time 2018 Shadybowl Speedway late model feature winner Josh Smith, 2017 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour first time winner Kyle Crump, Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year contender Billy Van Meter, Nick Grodi and Ryan Issacs.

2014 event winner Brandon Oakley is entered to try and win his second career ARCA/CRA Super Series. Oakley went to victory lane in the Gem City Late Models Robbie Dean 94 on Friday, May 11th.

Former ASA National Tour competitor Robbie Pyle is entered in the JVM Racing #7 that finished second in last year’s event with David Carter behind the wheel. Pyle scored four wins with the ASA National Tour and has an ARCA/CRA Super Series victory on his long list of race wins.

Several local competitors who compete part time with CRA and with the Gem City Auto Racing Late Models at Kil-Kare are entered, including multi-time Columbus Motor Speedway Champion Donnie “Zero” Hill, former Columbus Motor Speedway Champion Chad Pendleton, former Kil-Kare Raceway Champion Justin Alsip, Gem City Late Models 2017 event winner Drew Charlson and Jim Hursey.

There is an open practice scheduled on Friday, pit gates open at 4pm, practice will run from 5pm until 8pm. Pit gates open on Sunday at 1pm with a one hour practice session for the ARCA/CRA Super Series starting at 4pm. EDCO Welding qualifying for the Gem City 125 will start at 6:15pm. The race program will begin at 7:30 pm, also racing Saturday will be the Gem City Auto Racing Modifieds.
