RIPLEY, WV – The term “FASTRAK Builds Champions” is becoming a true testament in our sport. Drivers that have propelled with much success after starting in the FASTRAK brand, like Jonathan Davenport, Austin Dillon, Ty Dillon, Chris Ferguson and the list goes on. That list grows for the ULTIMATE brand on Friday at I-77 Speedway on Summer Solstice as Ryan Montgomery in the Rocket XR1 chassis broke through with his first career ULTIMATE Mid-Ohio Valley Super Late Model Series win in front of a packed house to collect the $3,000 payday in Ripley, West Virginia to officially drop the green on the 2019 race season after plagued by mother nature since April.

The fans we’re thrilled with an awesome performance by a couple of West Virginia young hit shoes. Proverbial winner Ryan Montgomery held off the charge of modified competitor, now in late models #17T Tyler Evans from Mineral Wells, West Virginia. Evans would try to make a banzai move exiting turn three in the closing laps and even to the checkered flag with efforts to get around Montgomery’s left rear but would fall short. #44 David Hess from Waterford, Pennsylvania settled for a podium third place finish after giving the fans a thrilling scare & impressive save of the night getting sideways roaring into the turn for the opening laps then slamming back down hard on the clay 3/8th mile oval. #97 Kody Frame had a solid night staying out of trouble giving his efforts a solid 4th place run at the finish. Plus another FASTRAK competitor now up to the super late models #357 Kenny Rucker from Pond Gap, West Virginia would avoid hiccups during the 40 lap battle to capture the top five for the season opening race.

A couple of top contenders from the “Wild & Wonderful” State had issues with cars breaking and engine woes causing a disappointing night for them. Second place starter #17 Zack Dohm would be an early contender for most of the race hanging with the front leaders, caution would fall on #4 Nicholas Parsons slowing the field and on the restart Domn’s car would develop white smoke from the rear end, many thought it was a fender rub possibly cutting down a tire. That wasn’t the case as an oil line ruptured causing heavy smoke forcing early exit in the opening series feature. Dohm and crew we’re relieved it wasn’t a blown engine and fixed the oil line before leaving for the night.

#42 Chris Garnes and #24R Robert Bostic would suffer engine and handling issues also for them both during qualifying and heat race competition, which forced them to retire from the opening race for the 2019 ULTIMATE Mid-Ohio Valley Super Late Model Series with a disappointing start for a championship hunt as well.

#28 Tyler Carpenter of Parkersburg, West Virginia the odds-on favorite in the Kryptonite Race Cars chassis went through a roller coaster of lows, then highs and then devastating lows before the green flag would even fly causing Carpenter to get a DNS for the opening race for the 2019 MOV series. After being the second quick qualifier, Carpenter’s car was deemed light at scales which caused qualifying time to be stripped forcing to start in the rear for heat race two which he would win. The top six qualifiers competed in a monumental dash for $75 to lock up the three rows of the feature. This would make heat winners #B4 Jeremy Blake and #28 Tyler Carpenter start in the fourth row. However, during the conclusion of the 4-wide salute to the fans he’d suffer contact with Rucker’s Rocket chassis which caused quick evasive action up the track, surprisingly then stalling on the front stretch victim of a broken drive shaft ending his opening day of Summer.

“I’m so thrilled to finally win on the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series, it being at a West Virginia track win it’s just absolutely more special.”, stated Ryan Montgomery. “I’ve watched ULTIMATE for years while competing in FASTRAK and never thought I’d make it to this level, they are the regions best of the best to beat, now we’re one of the elite to make that list.” “I raced modified before against Tyler Evans and honestly he spanked my tail, so to come out here holding off a strong effort by him in the super late models is special in deed, there is so much respect I have for him, he’ll be going places soon too.” “This is just a speechless humbling night for me, my Father (Jeff) the crew we are going to remember this one, what a great way to kick off the Summer, now we’ll go to Florence Speedway trying to sweep the weekend.” concluded Montgomery.
