Ona Speedway Releases Aggressive 2022 Schedule

ONA, WV-The Ona Speedway is proud to release an aggressive 2022 schedule that builds on what was a successful 2021 season. 14 races will make up the 2022 campaign with a record 5 different touring series visiting the track. Late Models, Modifieds, Sport Mods, Street Stocks, Classic Cars, INEX Legends Car Pro, INEX Legends Car Semi-Pro, U Cars, and Crazy Compacts will once again make up the weekly class lineup.

Prior to the official start of the season, the track will host Test N’ Tune practice days on Saturday, April 16th and Saturday, April 23rd. Both practice days will run from noon-5:00 pm. The cost to practice a race car will be $20 while pit passes will be $5.

The season officially get’s underway with a bang on Friday, April 29th and Saturday, April 30th with the 3rd Annual Cabin Fever Bash. Friday’s show will feature Street Stocks, Sport Mods, U Cars, and Classic Cars. Saturday will be highlighted by the second ever appearance from the Midwest Modified Tour with the “Cabin Fever Bash 50”. It will be the first points race of the 2022 campaign for the Midwest Modified Tour. Last season, Brad Yelton bested a field of over 25 Midwest Modified Tour Modifieds to take the season opening win at Ona. This race is sure to once again bring many of the best Modified drivers in the midwest to Ona. Late Models, INEX Legends Car Pro, INEX Legends Car Semi-Pro, and Crazy Compacts will also be on the racing card.

In the second of three huge weekend’s to start the season, the VORES Compact Touring Series will make their second trip to Ona for the “2nd Annual Freedom Used Autos Fly By 40” on Saturday, May 14th. It will be the fifth race of the season for the VORES Compact Touring Series and the series only race during the month of May. Last season, Ona regular Tim Cassidy scored the big victory in the 1st Annual Freedom Used Autos Fly by 40 to beat a field of 41 cars and take the win. This will bring the best compact drivers in the country to Ona.

Saturday, May 21st will see the return of the USAC Eastern Midgets to Ona. Last season the USAC Eastern Midgets put on a thrilling show with Jessica Bean, the winningest female driver in USAC history, making the pass for the win coming to the white flag. The USAC Eastern Midgets will bring their high speed style of racing back to Ona in what will be another can’t miss show. Late Models, Street Stocks, Classic Cars, INEX Legends Car Pro, INEX Legends Car Semi Pro, U Cars, and Crazy Compacts will also be on the racing card.

Saturday, June 4th will see the return of Throwback Night for the second straight season while the 3rd Annual Firecracker Extravaganza will take place on Friday, June 24th and Saturday, June 25th. The Friday night portion will feature a fan appreciation general admission price of only $5 while Saturday will feature one of the biggest fireworks shows in the region. Saturday, July 9th will see a new event, the Mid-Season Championships with all classes competing. Saturday, June 18th and Saturday, July 23rd have been designated as rain dates.

The second half of the season will get underway on Saturday, August 6th with the only visit of the year from the CRS Super Truck Series in a 50 lap special. Saturday, August 20th will feature the much anticipated first appearance to Ona from the Ohio Wheelman Street Stock Series for a 50 lap Street Stock special.

The points season will conclude on Saturday, September 10th with the Season Championship races in which championships for all divisions will be decided. This will lead into the annual Mountaineer 100 weekend on Friday, September 23rd and Saturday, September 24th. The Mountaineer 100 weekend will be highlighted by the 100 lap Mountaineer 100 for the Modifieds. Last season, Indiana driver Matt Dimit claimed the Mountaineer 100 win. The 2022 season will conclude on Saturday, October 22nd with the annual Trick or Treat Night. All classes will compete with a special trick or treat on track during the intermission

2022 proves to be another banner year of racing at Ona Speedway. The website will be updated in the next few days to reflect the new schedule with all start times and admission prices. Each race weekend will still see open practices on Thursday evening with the exception of the May 14th, May 21st, August 6th, and August 20th races where the open practice will be on Friday evening.
