Conneaut, OH (August 18, 2015): The Super Late Models will return to Raceway 7 for their second and final appearance of 2015 this Friday, led by the track’s all-time leading winner, Rob Blair, who won the last time Super Lates appeared here, July 24, 2015. 38 times Blair has gone to the Super Late Model winner’s circle and he has 90 total wins at the raceway including other classes he dominated at different times in his career. Also expected to appear is Blair’s son, Max, a former Evergreen Lake Park Campground CARS Crate Late Model champion. Former Campbell’s Mini-Storage Street Stocks champion Darrell Bossard, currently a top Crate Late Model driver, will also be in the field, looking for his first Super Late Model win of the 2015 season. Several of the area’s top Super Late Model drivers including Chris Hackett, Brent Rhebergen, Greg Oakes, and Chad Valone should also be in the field. Current Crate Late Model points leader and winner of nine Crate Late Model features this season, Chad Wright, has been campaigning a Super Late Model at Eriez Speedway this summer and has two feature win in his rookie season. Wright will be among the favorites to collect his first Raceway 7 feature win in the ultra-competitive division.
Of course Wright is the odds-on favorite to prevail in the Evergreen Lake Park CARS Crate Late Model feature for the tenth time this season. Dennis Lunger is currently second in the season long standings, 114 points behind Wright and 39 points ahead of defending champion Kyle Zimmerman. Zimmerman got his first win of the current season back on July 17.
2009 champion Percy McDonald has gone to the Bonnell Collision Center E-Mods Victory Lane four times this season and holds a substantial 94 point lead over Ken Zimmer for the championship. With only two weeks left in the season McDonald essentially only has to start the feature each week to clinch the title. Dan McDonald, who won his first feature since 2009 last week, runs third, 67-points behind Zimmer.
With only two weeks left in the season Shaun Fawcett has clinched the Campbell’s Mini-Storage Street Stocks track championship. Fawcett has an unassailable lead of 173 points over defending champion Chris Withers with only 150 points available. Second is still up for grabs though, with Ed Bolyard only three markers behind Withers.
Rick Prosser has an impressive 71 point lead for the Bonnell Auto Sales Economods championship chase over defending champion Josh Ferry. Ferry has six feature wins to Prosser’s four but had mechanical ails in several events earlier in the season. Although Ferry’s misfortunes are apparently behind him, he is a long way back in his quest to repeat. Eric Reinwald, winless thus far, is third, a distant 200 points behind Ferry.
The closest 2015 points race is in the Specialty Products Mini Stocks run for the championship with the lead being swapped back and forth between two former champions, 2012 winner Bud Sergeff, and 2013 winner Brad Cole. Cole led up to last week when Sergeff got back to the top of the list by a mere two points. This week Cole is back on top, by only three points. Will the see-saw battle continue? Or will the front runners experience problems and open the door for a first-time champion in Jason Easler, last week’s winner? Easler now has three wins on the season compared to five for Sergeff and two for Cole.
