(Middlebourne, WV) – The stage is nearly set for the running of the second annual ‘Workin’ Mans World Championship’, Saturday Night, August 22nd at the Tyler County Speedway. Edge Entertainment, the masterminds of the nationally recognized ‘Renegades of Dirt’ Modified Tour and sanctioning body for the EDGE Hot Mods, will again present the $2000 to win event for the region’s original and most competitive economy modified class.

The EDGE director Cody Watson proudly announces that the 2015 ‘Workin’ Mans World Championship’ has corporate sponsorship provided by Simonton Windows. Today, legendary Simonton quality continues to be recognized throughout the industry and is evident in the numerous industry awards Simonton receives. Simonton has manufacturing facilities in Pennsboro, Harrisville and Ellenboro, West Virginia, Paris, Illinois and Vacaville, California. Simonton now offers many distinct lines of vinyl retrofit and new construction windows and doors, including ENERGY STAR compliant products, and even a full line of impact-resistant windows and doors designed for coastal applications. Much has changed over the years, but our commitment to our customers, to quality, and to service never has. And never will. “We are ecstatic that Simonton Windows has come on board with the Tyler County Speedway and have chosen to support the grassroot racers of the Hotmod division” stated Watson.

The unique ‘Lunch Box’ qualifier race trophies will also play a part in the pre-race suspense. Qualifier race winning drivers will still receive this unequaled keepsake with the enclosed starting position number, will be held the night of the ‘WMWC’ in front of the crowd in attendance. In a scene similar to the game show ‘Deal or No Deal’, the starting position die will be cast as the lunch boxes are chosen! The 4 qualifier race winning drivers as well as the top 2 drivers in class point not already locked in by virtue of qualifying race wins will draw for the dash race starting positions for the 2nd Annual ‘Workin’ Mans World Championship’ presented by Simonton Windows. All other starters will advance into the big dance through traditional qualifying and preliminary race procedures. Already locked into starting positions for the dash race and the WMWC feature event (in chronological order of their qualifier race wins) are: Darren Glover, Travis Thomas, Darin Clark and Roland Bell. Glover will have the first opportunity to “play or pass” in the blind selection process. This same opportunity will continue to Thomas and (so on) until either a racer choses a lunch box or is forced to do so by all previous drivers choosing to pass. Once a selection is made, the process starts again with the first qualified driver remaining until all 6 positions have been filled. Glover, Thomas and Bell have all scored 3 feature wins to date (all at Tyler County) with Clark’s lone win coming in the WMWC qualifier held at the Ohio Valley Speedway near Lubeck, WV. The final WMWC qualifier fell victim to weather. Drivers still in contention for point provisional qualification include Mick Baker, Kenny Isner, Stevi Magyar and Brandon Weigle. A new winner is guaranteed in 2015, as Sardis, Ohio’s Chad Smith, the inaugural ‘WMWC’, has taken his talents to the open modified division.

The common sense combination of engine, suspension and tire rules is allowing outdated equipment find new life. The affordability has attracted racers of both sexes and range of ages. A true hobby class, it has also proven to provide close racing in good looking and safe cars, and is developing a following because of it, as well as the season highlighting name sake race, the Workin’ Mans World Championship presented by Simonton Windows. The Hometown Racing Association, promoters of the Tyler County Speedway which is nationally known as ‘The Bullring’, continue their strong support for the EDGE Hot Mod division, announcing earlier this season that the continuing class growth of the class will allow 2 A-main feature events if the participant numbers meet or exceed 30 cars on a regular race night for the class, and will hold true for the upcoming 2016 racing season. The fast, high banked quarter mile has seen the numbers continuing to climb since the class inception in 1999, with the 2015 season seeing new cars registered every race event. Using suspension and power train rules based on the ultra-successful IMCA & USRA Sportmod divisions, the EDGE Hot Mods have proven to attract new talent into the pits.

It’s the Blue Collar Battle Royale, a chance to add one racer’s name in the record books, take home the $2000 top prize and winter bragging rights in the 2nd Annual ‘Workin’ Mans World Championship’ presented by Simonton Windows! Gates open at 4, with MWRA Mini Wedges getting underway at 6 with qualifying slated for 7. General admission is just $10, with children 10 and under admitted free with an adult and pit admission is priced at $30. A complete program of J&R Excavating Super Late Models presented by Midcap Land & Timber, Peoples Bank FASTRAK Late Models, Two Brothers Motorsports Modifieds, Chris Metz State Farm Insurance Modlites presented by Cedar Run Farms, Lipps Towing 4 Cylinders and JJK Mineral MWRA Mini Wedges will also do battle in their 2015 Season Championship events.
