(Middlebourne, WV) – Welcome Back! For the first time since 2009 Carl Short’s “Hillbilly Hundred” will be returning to “The Bullring”. One of the countries most prestigious crown jewels is headed back to Tyler County Speedway THIS Labor Day Weekend, September 3rd & 4th. With it follows the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and it’s talented roster that includes Scott Bloomquist, Dennis Erb, Jimmy Owens, Jonathan Davenport, Steve Francis, Tim McCreadie, Jared Landers, and more.

Carl Short and race officials are excited to announce a deal returning the legendary race to it’s past home for the 48th running of the $25,000 to win, 100 lap event. Since it’s debut in 1967 at the Legendary Pennsboro Speedway the race has become a Mountain State, Labor Day tradition. In the mid 2000’s the race rose to all time highs at the ¼ mile oval in Middlebourne, WV.

Pennsboro Speedway hosted the Hillbilly 100 with the exception of a few years from 1967 through 1997. In 1998, Carl Short moved the race to Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, WV which began a new era for the event. In 2010 the race was moved to West Virginia Motor Speedway and afoot to it’s most recent destination, I-77 Raceway in Ripley, WV. However, with the substantial flood damage in the region and personally affecting I-77 promoter, Kenney Newhouse, Carl Short is anxious to have Tyler County Speedway hosting the event this season.

“Tyler County Speedway was my first choice upon reaching the decision to relocate this season” stated, Carl Short. “It’s second to none when it comes to racing action as well as the camping and atmosphere” added Short. “I want to thank I-77, their fans, and Kenney for the hospitality over the past few years” concluded Short.

After six seasons away, “The Bullring” is happy to announce it’s official return for the 2016 season. “This is huge news for the speedway” stated track promoter, John Watson. “There are few events that have the tradition of the Hillbilly 100 and we are excited to return that tradition to Tyler County where so many have fond memories” added Watson.

Since the race last visited the Hometown Racing Association has added all-new lighting, a new pit tower, new handicap seating as well other improvements throughout the property including additional seating, updated racing surface, and a premium suite.

The weekend racing agenda features an incredible lineup with the Steel Block Late Models headlining the action on Saturday for the annual “Hillbilly 50”, $4000 to win special. Also on Saturday’s card will be the $5000 to win FASTRAK Late Model “Brown Jug 40”, and AMRA Modified “White Lightnin’ 30” $2000 to win special.
