Bud Weigle Memorial Set to Kick Off 51st Annual Tyler County Fair

A rare Sunday Night ‘Bullring’ Spectacular will welcome race fans to the Tyler County Speedway for the running of the inaugural Bud Weigle Memorial. A special night in honor of a past speedway icon and former promoter will kick off the 51st Annual Tyler County Fair on Sunday Night, August 4th. Weigle was known for his commitment to Tyler County and along with many others was instrumental in building and opening the ¼ mile speedway decades ago. His presence is still felt each and every Saturday Night at the Bullring as grandsons Steve Weigle and Michael Griffin along with great grandson Brandon Weigle compete in various divisions.

A full card of intense racing action as only the ‘Bullring’ can provide will await in honor of thirty nine years of continuous fast family fun. Featuring a FANtastic Five show highlighted by the J&R Excavating Super Late Models presented by Midcap Land & Timber competing for the $1,500 to win main event, which is also a coveted Hillbilly Qualifier event. Some of the areas best super late models will be on hand looking to capture the 1st Bud Weigle Memorial and punch a ticket into the 45th Annual Hillbilly 100 race at I-77 Speedway on Sunday, September 1st. Also the Two Brothers Motorsports Modifieds will vie for a hefty $1,000 top prize along with the Peoples Bank FASTRAK Late Models, Hotmods, Chris Metz State Farm Insurance Modlites and Wells Inn Mini Wedges will all be on tap on the festive evening.

Gates open at 4, with hotlaps/qualifying getting underway at 6:45. General admission is priced at $12, while children 10 and under are free, while entry into the pits is just $26.
