WHEELERSBURG, OH-It was a picture perfect day at the Southern Ohio Speedway on Saturday, November 9th for the final event of the 2013 season, “The Hazelbaker Foundation 2nd Annual Fall Havoc Enduro.” The Hazelbaker Foundation won the bid for title sponsorship of the race with a winning bid of $300. 100% of that money will go to injured racer Josh McGuire, who finished third in 2013 SOS Late Model points.

A total of 38 cars entered to race in “The Hazelbaker Foundation 2nd Annual Fall Havoc Enduro.” This was a record SOS Enduro car count and the highest single class car count for any event in the modern era of SOS. The action began with hot laps that saw one minor spinout and then all eyes turned to the Time Trial Challenge. Jeffersonville, Ohio’s Brad Miller won the Time Trial Challenge with a best lap time of 54.16. The top 14 cars in time trials were under one minute while the top five cars were separated by only one second.

Following the Time Trial Challenge, it was the preliminary races with the Dash for Cash followed by three heat races. Portsmouth, Ohio’s Robbie Matheny won the Dash for Cash while Brandon Hopkins, Darren Baker, and Jeremy Crockett won heat races. The Dash for Cash and heats saw a lot of exciting racing.

After the final heat race, the track was soaked down heavily for The Main Event and 15 minutes after the last heat race, The Main Event took to the track with over 30 cars on the track at once. The first part of The Main Event, the 30 minute endurance segment, saw a number of incidents including several multi-car accidents. With all of the incidents in The Main Event, the field was down to 21 cars remaining for the 10 lap shootout that would determine the winner of the 2nd Annual Fall Havoc Enduro.

Brad Miller stormed to the lead on the start of the 10 lap shootout and continued to increase his lead as each lap went by. Behind Miller, the action was hot and heavy. With the track really slick at the top of turns 3 and 4, several cars got in trouble when they slipped up high and nailed the turn four wall hard. Ray Scott and Phillip Artressia all hit the wall hard but thankfully were ok. When all of the smoke cleared, Brad Miller would lead all 10 laps to claim the 2nd Annual Fall Havoc Enduro!

With “The Hazelbaker Foundation 2nd Annual Fall Havoc Enduro” in the books, the 2013 season at the Southern Ohio Speedway has come to a close. SOS would like to say a special thanks to all of the race fans, race teams, and sponsors for their support this season!
