CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-The 7th Annual Dan Reno Memorial at Atomic Speedway will be this Saturday, May 2, featuring 803Fire.com Late Models, Precision Grading Modifieds, Pine Tree Towing and Recovery 410 Sprints, and C & M Racing Sport Mods. The 7th Annual affair in honor of the late Dan Reno will pay $2,222 for Late Models and $2,222 for Modifieds.

In the Late Models and Modifieds the race is unsanctioned with cars running under the Hoosier Tire rule. Race fans can expect some of the finest cars in the region competing not only for huge persons, but to honor the legacy of a fine man in Dan Reno. Experience the thrill of high-speed, side-by-side action, or cars broad-sliding through the turns of the Midwest’s Fastest Dirt oval. The dash winner in the Late Models gets $222 from McDowell Farm and in the Mod’s $222 from Tommy Brewster Auctioneer.

Fast Time awards are also up for grabs at $222 from Thomas Gas in the Late Models and $122 from in the Modifieds along with numerous other awards and give-aways for drivers and fans. The hard charger award will pay $122 in both headline divisions. In perhaps a one-of-a-kind event, the top three divisions will all pay over $2,000 to win! The sport mod main pays $522. And the hard-charger gets $122 from Reno & Sons Lawncare.

Dan Reno drove the number 22 modified and street stock at tracks in southern Ohio from 2004 until his death in late 2009 at the age of 38. Reno left this world after injuries suffered in an ATV accident. The 22’s are in memory of Dan’s racing number 22.

His compassion and caring of others was demonstrated on a daily basis as he made himself available 24/7 to assist a neighbor, family, or friend in need. Dan is known best for his contagious smile and sense of humor. Dan was an avid race car fan, and fulfilled his lifelong dream of driving race cars at local dirt tracks. He placed great value on his many close friendships, and newly formed friendships acquired while racing. Dan will always be remembered as a great person and a great race driver.

The last Reno Memorial, the 5th annual event was won by Matt Westfall of Pleasant Hill, Ohio who claimed the win in the Modifieds, while Chris Garnes, Evans, WV–the four-time AMRA champion–claimed the Late Model feature. Garnes has indicated he will return to defend his title. The 6th annual affair was rained out last fall.

Besides a great field of cars in all divisions, great racing and fellowship, 9-year old Sophie Simonton will be singing the National Anthem.
