Topless 50 Set To Thrill Fans At Tyler County

(Middlebourne, WV) After a wet, cold and dreary month of April, frustrated race fans are eager to flip the calendar to the month of May for more than one reason. The popular ‘Topless 50’, a Tyler County Speedway staple event always lies on the first Saturday in May. The second oldest ‘Topless’ race in the country behind the Topless 100 in Batesville, Arkansas will celebrate its 21st running in 2015 on Saturday Night, May 2nd paying $4,000 to win.
The Topless 50 at Tyler County Speedway is a unique event in which all roofs and window supports are removed from the racecar to provide the fans with a “birds eye” view of the drivers as they work their way around the quarter mile speedway. The Topless 50 has provided some of the best side by side racing action and last lap finishes that make this event a must see year after year.
The extended lap shows at the ‘Bullring’ always seem to bring out the best teams and provide the best racing action for the fans. Last seasons version of the famed Topless 50 was no different and will no doubt go down in the record book as one for the ages. An awe inspiring mid race side by side war between Paul Wilmoth Jr. and Pennsylvania invader Keith Barbara that seen the duo race door to door for some 15 laps and had fans on the edge of their seat. Both talented racers looked poised to grab the Topless prize but after a late race caution, New Martinsville, West Virginia’s Sonny Conley aboard the familiar 1×1 blew around top shelf style with four laps to go to claim his coveted 2nd Topless trophy in front of an appreciative standing crowd. The 2014 event earned the OVDTR “race of the year”.
As part of Tyler County Speedway’s 21st Annual ‘Topless 50’ event, not only will the J&R Excavating Super Late Models presented by Midcap Land & Timber be in action but the Peoples Bank FASTRAK Late Models will battle it out in the ‘Topless 25′ for a $1,000 top prize. Plus the EDGE economy minded Hotmods will also share top billing as they battle for a guaranteed starting spot in the season ending Workin’ Man World Championship also in ‘Topless’ fashion. An impressive triple bill of ‘Topless’ racing action!
Plus Regular Racing in the Two Brothers Motorsports Modifieds, Chris Metz State Farm Modlites presented by Cedar Run Farms, Lipps Towing 4 Cylinders and JJK Mineral MWRA Mini Wedge division. General admission is $20, pit prices are $35 with children 10 and under FREE! Gates open at 4, MWRA starts at 6:15, hotlaps/qualifying begin at 7pm.
