Raceway 7 Championship Battles Heat Up In Mid-Summer!

Conneaut, OH (July 7, 2015): Regular racing is scheduled for all five classes this week at Raceway 7 with kids under eighteen admitted free of they are wearing a scouting or sporting team uniform (Little League or school sports).

Championship battles are shaping up in the second half of the season with three former champions at the top of the list in the Evergreen Lake Park Campground Crate Late Models battle for the top spot. Chad Wright, the 2013 champion, leads the race with a comfortable 58-point margin over 2009 champion Dennis Lunger with defending champion Kyle Zimmerman another 38- markers back. Wright and Lunger have feature wins with Wright dominating with five wins this season to Lunger’s two. Zimmerman has yet to break into the Winner’s Circle. Billy Henry and Bob Pifer have the other two wins this season.

Percy McDonald, with two feature wins, holds a slim margin of only two points over two time winner Ken Zimmer in the quest for the Bonnell Collision Center E-Mods championship trophy. Brent Rhebergen, with one win, is third, another 44-points back. Four other drivers have one win each, Mike Kinney (last week), former champion Joel Watson, Justin Carlson, and Brandon Blackshear.

Shaun Fawcett has three wins and holds a 39-point edge over former champion Chris Withers (winless so far) in the Campbell’s Mini-Storage Street Stocks standings. With four feature wins, Brandon Groters holds the third spot. Rusty Martz, and former champion Ed Bolyard have one win each.

The Bonnell Auto Sales Economod championship tilt is being led by former 1990s Street Stock and E-Mod champion Rick Prosser. Prosser has one feature win but a substantial 67-point edge over defending champion Josh Ferry. Ferry has three wins on the season but a string of mechanical failures has stymied his progress. Russ Kapalin, winless so far, is third, another 39-points behind Ferry. Jace Ferringer has two wins with single wins being recorded by Brad Blackshear, Steve Haefke, and Jason Longwell, in his first appearance of the year just last week.

Thirty two points separate 2013 Specialty Products Mini Stocks champion Brad Cole from second-running Bud Sergeff, the 2012 champion. Dale Fraschetti, the defending champion, is currently third, 12 points behind the runner-up. Sergeff has visited Victory Lane three times this season will Cole and Fraschetti each have two wins. Hoyt Mihalak has one win, on opening night, and Casey Harmon also has a single triumph.

Weather permitting, gates open every Friday at 5:30 PM with pill draw cut off at 7 PM and racing at 7:30 PM. VIP suites are available for rental for $250 a night which includes eight general admissions passes. Admission is set for $10 for adults for regular events, kids 7-14 are $5.
