Be sure to join us at the Tyler County Speedway this Saturday Night, July 30th as the Hometown Racing Association will present the Annual Bud Weigle Memorial paying $2,000 to win for AMRA Super Late Models. The ‘Bullring’ will be the place to be as drivers continue to dial in their machines in preparation for the biggest racing weekend of the season, as the granddaddy of all Super Late Model major events the Hillbilly Hundred is just over a month away. As the regions best vie for important track time, search for a starting spot in the Sunoco Shootout and most importantly race in honor of a past speedway great in Bud Weigle. It will be Tyler County Speedway’s privilege to honor the man that was at the helm of the ‘Bullring’ for many years as we kick off the 54th Annual Tyler County Fair. Racing in all classes will be on tap with gates opening at 4pm, with MWRA Mini Wedges hitting the track at 6:30 with racing to follow. General admission is fairly priced at just $12, while pit admission is $32 while children 10 and under are admitted for free in general admission.

Bullring Revises Schedule
Last week’s announcement that the premier Motorsports event in the Mountain State, the Hillbilly Hundred would be returning back to the ‘Bullring’ leaving the Hometown Racing Association with just over a month to prepare for the granddaddy. After some consideration the Tyler County Speedway has felt the need to adjust the remainder of the 2016 schedule in anticipation of West Virginia’s traditional Labor Day extravaganza.

The Friday Night Lights event scheduled for Friday Night, August 19th has been canceled as the ‘Bullring’ will now race on Saturday Night, August 20th featuring Hillbilly Hundred Qualifiers in all divisions. Also the August 27th Season Championship and $5k Sunoco Shootout will be moved to the August 20th date as the event scheduled for the 27th has been canceled for preparation of the 48th Annual Hillbilly 100. This sets up a monster night as the ‘Bullring’ will present an opportunity for racers to lock themselves into the Labor Day classic but also vie for the Season Championships as well the Super Lates will do battle in the $5k Sunoco Shootout.

Point Battles Shaping Up as the Regular Season Hits the Homestretch
With the dog days of summer in high gear the 2016 point battles at the ‘Bullring’ are as intense as the summer heat. Derek Doll sits atop the J&R Excavating Super Late Model division as the Greenwood native is seeking back to back championships as the driver of the Doll Bros. #87 leads over Kyle Thomas, Sonny Conley and Steve Weigle. In a hotly contested Appalachian Oil and Gas FASTRAK Late Model division it is local hotshoe Danny Thomas holding off pesky Ryan Payne and Troy Frazier for the FASTRAK hardware. In the Two Brothers Motorsports AMRA Modified division it is Shawn Jett aboard the 1J holding off a charging Nick Corbitt and Chad Smith as Jett is seeking his first track championship in the AMRA Modified division.

A fierce battle between teammates Ryan Saffell and Josh Baldwin lead the way in the Chris Metz State Farm Insurance Modlite division. Just a scant 4 points separate the lead duo while two time feature winner Daniel Eddy sits only 19 points back in the battle for Modlite supremacy. In a battle of Hotmod veterans Travis Thomas and Mick Baker are locked in an old fashioned ‘Bullring’ battle. Thomas looks poised to pick up another EDGE Hotmod track championship but just 5 points separate him and Baker, with Roland Bell lurking in the third position. A familiar face sits atop the 4 Cylinder divisional standings as Clarksburg, WV’s Donnie Wamsley looks to grab another crown to his crowded mantle as the driver of the 00 currently leads Sambo Cokeley and Scott Critchfield. Philip Bubeck and George Casto III sit alone in the MWRA Mini Wedge Advance and Junior divisions as both are seeking their first Tyler County Speedway Championship.
